Leading Change In A Fractured World

Come September 2018, the Series will showcase a full day seminar on “Leading Change in a Fractured World”. It will offer unique insights and intensive discussion on the kind of leadership required in today’s world: a world filled with surprise, uncertainty, complex, messy challenges with urgency for change.

Every organization struggles to figure out how to navigate the terrain, respond to complexity, sustain performance, change fast enough, and get meaningful goals accomplished. Where is the leadership? What kind of leadership is needed?
The reality is that the current notions of leadership are seriously deficient for dealing with the challenges we face today. The prevailing model is born of an old tribal way of thinking where a “big man” leads the way and makes the decisions. However, the challenges of today muddled, interdependent problems—problems that are shared by multiple groups and cannot be resolved by a single dominant authority figure or by one group acting alone.
Today’s leaders need to be global change agents—leaders with a global mindset who can stimulate creative problem solving and adaptive change by building networks of people to engage in the creative and demanding work of change. These change agents must be multi-dimensional in style and approach. They must be open-minded, courageous, passionate, and imaginative. They must be able to cross boundaries, build bridges, and harness diverse groups and resources to achieve outstanding results in the face of demanding and shifting forces.
